It’s no secret that over the last 12 years, we’ve had some amazing success with basketball players all over the globe in getting the strong and powerful. Heck, we’ve watch our athletes reach the mountain top of WNBA, NBL and SBL championships as well as the many individual accolades that go with it. The point of this is that there is no secret to how we did it. To create an elite athlete, especially in the strength and conditioning field, you must make them strong. Too many 'Instagram Famous’ coaches put the emphasis on themselves where everything should be focussed on the athlete. What they need and what they require to make the next level.
There are almost an infinite amount of variables when training and developing an athlete. Over the last 20 years, the emphasis has been on skill development and being able to play the sport to a high level. What we’ve seen over those years is an increase in over talent BUT athletes are not strong.
What we develop here at Atlas Performance is strong and balanced athletes. The emphasis of our programming is to make sure our athletes can play in any league, anywhere in the world while remaining injury free. Sure, we can get you strong and powerful, thats what we do! But the most important part of what we do is keep our athletes healthy by TEACHING them how to do so.

The weights room is often a place where most people don’t feel comfortable or know what they’re doing, which is why we walk you through the whole process of doing the right training for the right short and long term goals. Balance, stability and strength and the 3 levels of performance we aim for and your first stages of training with us are geared around getting you right for the tough programs. Nutritional Solutions, Strategies & Plans
Arguably the most vital part of any programming is the fuel you put in your body. To be able to perform at a high level, you need to be able to make the machine last as well as recover for the next day. Too often we see nutrition plans focussed on extreme weight loss or mass gain training plans when as an athlete, you need to focus on the goal of increased performance. If it means putting some more muscle mass on then thats a focus as well as performance. The biggest part of ALL of the nutritional planning is maintaining health and wellness. We’re no interested in getting to a short term goal only to see you develop issues down the track. Our goal setting and nutritional layouts are geared towards seeing you develop along with a strong immune system and metabolism.
ON/OFF COURT CONDITIONING PROGRAMMING
Along with the work you’ll be putting in the gym, you’ll be able to tackle the on court conditioning programs that are designed to see you enhance your speed, agility and quickness. A vital component of on court development resides in the ability to last the full 40 minutes on court. With the sport becoming even more dynamic and fast paced, athletes need a strong conditioning base if they’re going to be able to match it with the best on court.
Running is part of it but it’s a very small part. Knowing the different types of running speeds and qualities is what separates the good from the great. Being able to change direction, enhance ones speed and decelerate are all essentials attributes of an elite athlete. Too much time is spent on the flashy stuff and not enough time spent on the fundamentals. Building the foundation to a height where the flashy stuff is the cream on top. Not the other way around.
